Final 2017
This video was the PSA that I made with Mallory, Katie, Olive, Erin and Cyle. It was suppose to be very different from all other PSA's about depression. This project was the first one that I made this year, so it was a little different/hard to get back into the mindset of making a video again. I learned how to work with new people and how to get back to working with people that I haven't worked with in a while. The most challenging thing about making this video was the edit because there were so many ways that you could edit it and every way would make it different.
This was my video for the 24 hour film festival that I made with Sarah and Armin. This video was very different from all the over videos that I have made because we were filming all night long and then editing all day. This was a huge challenge because I was working with people I had barely collaborated with before, I worked with actors I didn't know, and I was up most of the night filming it. But this video really helped me get to know more people especially juniors in our class and got to see their strengths and weaknesses.
This was the short film that I made with Mallory, Olive, Cyle, and Tanner. This video took a very different turn than it was supposed to be at the beginning. When Tanner first read the treatment it was about a father who went to a coffee shop and the wait staff cut off their finger which ended up in his coffee. That is not at all how this short film turned out to be though. Instead we want with something more simple and had a few friends be in it and have one of them cut off their finger. This again changed quite a bit when we went to edit it. We decided to make it into a silent film to make it more funny. Even though this short film was a pretty simple idea the hardest part of it was trying to make the finger look like it was cut off. But through this process I learned more about silent films and how to make something work even if you have to change it.
In class this semester I spent most of my time working on band stuff like order forms, uploading video, doing interviews, making a schedule, and organizing all the video that we took over the season. When I wasn't doing band stuff I was reading articles on no film school and watching videos on how to improve my skills. Outside of class I do something very similar to what I do inside of class. I watch videos and read articles, but I also watch lots of movies and shows. My strengths are being organized, making schedules, and staying on task. I need to improve in my communication skills because sometimes when working in a group it can be hard to communicate ideas. From our guest speaker I learned more about how the industry works and got to play around with the equipment. Next semester I hope to work with more of the class and get to know more of them so I can help give them tips on things that they aren't sure about.
